Declaration of the 11th Jerusalem Conference on Jasenovac,
The Holocaust from the Perspective of the 21st Century,
Jasenovac the Anatomy of Neglected Concentration Camps

Jerusalem, Israel
December 29-30, 2002

1. Continue the Donja Gradina Research Project in a multinational, multidisciplinary and scientific investigation including the application of Remote Sensing and Georadar Examination on the whole area of the Jasenovac system of Croatian Ustasha places of mass murder.

2. Seek international protection of the Jasenovac Memorial area through World Heritage Organization and UNESCO. We urge the governments of the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and FRY to initiate the process for official recognition.

3. Propose a Jasenovac presentation including documentary books, exhibitions, and round table discussions at Yad Vashem and the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, etc.

4. To enable us to continue the proper investigation of the whole Jasenovac system of camps we propose that a formal institution is established preferably in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, because Donja Gradina is the largest site of mass graves and we urge the governments of the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and FRY to provide the permanent funding of the entire project including the formal organization.

5. Seek compensation, reparations and restitution for the surviving victims or their families of those who lost their lives.

6. Determine the status of Jasenovac.

7. Examine the Dinko Sakic trial to elucidate why he was not tried for genocide, and to urge the governments of the Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia to restart the legal procedures regarding the crime of genocide.

8. Urge the governments of the Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia to seek the renewal of the Nada Sakic indictment, and prosecution of the former Nazi Ustasha Ivo Rojnica, Ustasha leader in Dubrovnik, who was decorated in Croatia, and Mirko eterovich, expelled Ustasha from Argentina, residing in Croatia.

9. It is recommended that the fourth International Conference on Jasenovac be held at the Jasenovac Memorial site, Dubica-Donja Gradina site or in Paris home to World Heritage and UNESCO, as decided by the International Commission on Jasenovac.
